October 7, 2025 – Over eighty rice farmers gathered in Brgy. Sto. Niño, Butuan City for the 𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐅 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐕𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲, featuring 15 promising rice varieties suited to local growing conditions. The event was led by the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞–𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧 in partnership with the 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐂𝐀𝐕𝐃) of Butuan City. It showcased the results of the 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝 (𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐅) varietal trials aimed at identifying high-yielding, resilient, and farmer-preferred rice varieties adaptable to the city’s agro-climatic conditions. 🌾 Farmers witnessed field evaluations, participated in technology sharing sessions, and engaged in an open forum to provide feedback and recommendations. The event served as a venue for learning, exchange, and innovation toward improving local rice productivity.
